In August, 2006 the Ekaterinburg branch SCCA (State Centre of Contemprary Art) had been declared competition of projects of the modern art "Chaos" which idea consist in creation by artists of own myths and legends or the models of a situation developed «around of the Sverdlovsk tower » - one of first-rate the Soviet long-term constructions.

Organizers have received set of offers in reply to inquiry, most unusual of which was Kuznetsov Anatoly's offer. Here the text of his e-mail letter:

Hello dear curators of the project …

I was very glad to learn about the competition declared by you "Chaos". Your idea is very close to me. I never was in Ekaterinburg, and a TV-tower saw on a photo only… but I feel the general destiny, relationship with respect to it…

I shall begin with the beginning. I was born in 1981 in Moscow suburbs, in this year, as I have learned later, the project of the Sverdlovsk television tower has been approved. In 1984 when construction has begun, my father Kuznetsov Ivan was lost. He killed himself, having jumped off from radio-tower. His suicide was reflected in my creativity - in a series of lithographs with views of Ostankino-tower. Working with these lithographs, I have became interested TV-towers and have learned about construction TV-tower at Urals. I have passionately wanted to see it. In 1993, my lithographs have been exposed in The Moscow House of creativity young. I wish to pay your attention that in 1993 construction of the Ural TV-tower has been frozen finally. My series consisted of 12 drawings. Number fallen and departed from the Ekaterinburg tower is 11 person (12 without one). Now I am passing to an essence of my project.

I wish to stop my life artily. This decision is not spontaneous. I search the occasions to stop my life for a long time, about one year, and I have set of the reasons to it. My decision is firmly and unshakably. The desire "to stop" became my persuasive ideas. And your offer to cooperation collects my last dreams so full and artily and present experiences in the uniform project. I should become that Twelfth victim. Last. It will to finish "season" now, in 2006, when minister M. Fradkov has declared defreezing construction, and local mass-media took about "explosion" of object which of long-term construction has become unfit for use for years. Anyhow - Let there WILL be no MORE VICTIMS! LET I SHALL be the LAST! IT will be as a symbol of the end of decline before the beginning of REVIVAL or the TERMINATION.

I imagine it so. I shall turn back the canvas grounded under painting and I shall make last step. My product, my bloody blot, will arise during the moment of my death. I bequeath this canvas and lithograph and this letter to Ekaterinburg as parts of one project, eloquently telling about my life, death, and creativity to the spectator.

It is very simple project. Believe, I do not aspire to be the most original. Uniqueness of such project is a surprising coincidence of circumstances! My heart fades, when I think of how all can fine turn out. I am adjusted very seriously, but all the same, and I think, everyone will understand me, I would like to reserve the right to itself to refuse a "fatal" step, even last minute.

I incur legal official registration of papers, do not worry, I already consulted to the lawyer: your organization will not incur any responsibility for my decision and an act. The canvas will be in police some time as exhibit, but then it will return to you under my will. It is not necessary to think of a possible moral cargo … I have not anybody... My mother washing has died … I am lonely and my live is not necessary to me, it is burdensome …

Organizers of competition, naturally, have refused even consideration of an opportunity of realization of this project, but it has not stopped the artist.

December 19th, 2006 Anatoly Kuznetsov has arrived to Ekaterinburg and has carried out the plan. After investigation and the decision of court, according to the will, exhibits have been transferred to organization SCCA and presented to your attention now.
